Hot! Hot! Hot!

A day like today is a constant reminder of just how close we are to finishing up the school year. Let's hope it cools down a little bit over the next few days. I'm not complaining. Sunshine is better than rain.

Once again, I 'd like to thank our PTO for taking the time to organize this year's Bake Sale. Everything went very well. However, I think we could have doubled the profits if I had not been in charge of popping the popcorn. I found myself eating as quickly as I was popping it.

Have a wonderful evening!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

4th Grade Recognition!

Last night's Recognition Program went exceptionally well. I'd like to thank our incredible PTO for all of their hard work. You certainly made last night one our students will never forget. Congratulations 4th graders! Poland Union Elementary School will miss you very much.

Enjoy the long weekend. I asked all of our students to spend a little bit of time this weekend thinking about the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. Be sure to remind them.

I hope to see many of our families at Monday's parade. Our PTO will have a tent set up for their Bake Sale. It looks like the weather will be on our side.

Have a wonderful 3 day weekend.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

New Addition!

Our building has a new addition! Thanks to our 4th graders a dwarf lilac tree has been planted in front of the school. I think it looks great! Be sure to check it out when you drive by the building. It will be a constant reminder of our current 4th grade class.

Tomorrow's Recognition Program is ready to go! I know our 4th graders are looking forward to this event. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. Let's hope for cool weather.

Be sure to ask about today's amazing program. "Lights, Camera, Action" was a huge hit. On behalf of our students and staff, I'd like to thank our PTO for paying for this program. It was money well spent.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Thank You PTO!

Mr. Mike has been hard at work hanging the new pictures in our hallway. They should all be up soon. Thank you PTO! Your generosity is appreciated.

Our 2nd graders ended up having a beautiful day at Ford Nature Center. They should sleep well tonight. From what I was told, they were very well behaved, too.

Tomorrow's "Lights, Camera, Action" will take over our building. Once again, the PTO has provided the funds for this one-of-a-kind program. Make sure you ask your children about it.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Dodging Rain Drops!

We managed to dodge a few raindrops this morning. While it is easy to complain about the weather, I look at some other states and feel pretty fortunate. A soggy backyard isn't so bad when you think about it.

Today's fire drill went very well. All students and staff exited the building quickly and quietly. As you know, we hold a fire drill each month. We'll have one more in June. It's hard to believe that there are only 14 more days of school.

Have a great night!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Finished!

With a lot of support from the 4th grade teachers and students, I was able to finish the video that will be shown at Thursday's 4th Grade Recognition. To be honest, I am ahead of schedule. The fact that I am finished will make the weekend a bit more enjoyable.

The weather has been miserable lately. A nice day like today gets so many of us thinking about all of the things we "have to" get done. Whether it be cutting the grass of heading the the fields, take a moment and think about really "is" important. Taking a minute or two to do may just make your weekend a little bit better.

Enjoy the sunshine.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Sunshine!

We'll take what we can get! It was nice to see the sun finally come out. Like many others, I will be cutting grass when I get home. Let's hope I make it out of my backyard.

The 4th Grade Recognition Program is only one week away. I would like to thank all of the parents who have worked so hard in preparing for this one-of-a-kind event. I continue to work on the video that will be shown during the event. Our 4th graders have been great sports. I hope to finish things up tomorrow.

I finally caught the mouse that has been vacationing in my garage. During our morning announcements, I have been keeping your children up to speed on my attempt to "rid" my garage of my new friend. For the past three nights, the mouse has enjoyed fresh peanut butter while managing to avoid my trap. Last night was a different story!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

I'm Slipping!

I walked in the house after attending the 5th grade's choir concert and realized I didn't post a message today. Little things like that tend to bother me. Sorry for running late. It was one of those days.

I'd like to thank those who attended today's PTO meeting. We were able to vote for next year's fundraiser and managed to take care of quite a bit of other business. It's not too early to begin planning for September. I cannot believe I just typed that!

Have a wonderful night!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Better Late Than Never!

I was a bit late getting today's message posted. I'd love to be able to blame it on the rain, but I cannot. The day just got away from me.

I'd like to remind everyone about tomorrow's PTO meeting. It will begin at 9:15 a.m. and take place in room 34. We will be voting on next year's fundraiser. Please plan on attending. I promise you won't be here too long.

I'd like to inform everyone of an important date. On May 31st, a retirement party will be held for Mr. Mike Klase. Mr. Klase has taught for many years and is looking forward to a wonderful retirement. If you are interested in wishing him well, please plan on attending the party at the Holy Family Parish Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Congratulations Mr. Klase!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Just a Reminder!

I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone about Wednesday's PTO meeting. It will begin at 9:15 a.m. in Room 34. I hope you can make it. There are quite a few things to finalize.

It is hard to believe that there are only 19 days of school left. Summer will be here before you know it. Let's hope it starts to dry up soon.

Have a great week.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

2 in a Row!

If I'm not mistaken, we have just had two nice days in a row. I hope the weekend is as nice. Before we know it, it will be Memorial Day. Don't forget that our PTO hosts an incredible bake sale. Hope to see you there.

Information will be coming home soon about the need for PTO volunteers for the 2011-2012 school year. As of today, we do not have anyone elected to serve as President, Vice-President and/or Treasurer. In addition, the PTO is in need volunteers to head various committees. Please consider donating some of the time you do have to our students.

I will not be posting a blog again until Monday, May 16th.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

A Beautiful Day!

There is nothing quite like the feel of the sun on your face. The next few days look like they will be just about perfect. I am looking forward to getting my grass cut tonight. However, I am sure to be overlooking the fact that all three of my kids probably have baseball practice. I'll never complain. I love watching them play.

We started a new book this morning. The Most Beautiful Place in the World tells the story of a little boy named Juan. Living a poor town, Juan has begun to explain the struggles he faces each and every day. I explained this isn't the kind of book that will make you laugh, but it will definitely make you think. Be sure to ask about it.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

The Weekend has Arrived!

The week went by very quickly. Having the Achievement Assessments out of the building is a BIG relief. Seeing the sun really makes it feel like spring, too. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Looks like rain may be in our future.

Happy Mother's Day a few days early. I hope the flowers our students planted make it home safe and sound. Once they leave the building, there are no real guarantees. The flowers will be safe to plant outside once the threat of frost is gone.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Sunshine!

It was wonderful to see the sun today! Let's hope it sticks around for a few days. It was nice to see and hear our students outside during recess today.

Achievement Assessments are completed! It's been a rough couple of days for our 3rd and 4th graders. It will be a nice feeling getting the documents out of the building. Results should be back sometime in June.

We are just about finished with our latest chapter book. In it, Kelly Sparks and Albert Einstein Jones are in a bit of a jam. It appears as though honesty may end up being the best policy by the end of the book. Be sure to ask about the book.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Thank You!

Although our new school levy did not pass, I'd like to thank those who continue to support our schools. The levy committee, led by Mr. McFadden and Mr. Ungaro, worked exceptionally hard and should be thanked for their efforts. I'd also like to thank the committee's volunteers who donated their time and energy. You are appreciated!

Mrs. Stoll's students spent the day at Poland's Little Red Schoohouse. From what I hear, they really enjoyed themselves. Mrs. Watts and her students will spend the day there tomorrow. Mrs. Jeswald's class will arrive Friday morning.

Congratulations to our 3rd graders for finishing up their Achievement Assessments today. It's a great feeling knowing they are done. 4th graders will wrap things up tomorrow.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Rolling Along!

The week is going by quickly. By this time tomorrow, our 3rd graders will have completed their Achievement Assessments. 4th graders will wrap things up on Thursday. They have been working hard.

Plans are coming together nicely for this year's 4th Grade Recognition Program. I'd like to thank our 4th graders and their families for providing me with the pictures needed to create this year's video. I am happy to report that the video is coming along nicely. May 26th will be here before we know it.

The PTO has been taking special care of our entire staff. Although the week has not come to an end, I'd like to thank the PTO for their generosity and kindness. You are appreciated, too.

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci

Back to School!

Welcome back to school! It's hard to believe our break is over. However, the school year will quickly be coming to an end. Keep your eyes and ears on our webiste for news and information about this very busy time of year.

Be sure to ask your children about the new banners hanging in the gym. They'll be here for many years and definitely brighten up the gym. Thank you PTO for purchasing them for our school. I'd also like to thank Mr. Mike and our entire custodial staff for thier hard work over the break The banners weren't exactly easy to hang.

I'm proud to announce that our school had 5 winners in the year's Green Team Placemat Contest. Congratulations!

Thanks,
Mr. Masucci
